Four of us (myself, Ben Callam, Matthew Olson, and Luc Wilson), all designers acting as artists, made three drawings with thousands of shared points and vectors. We wrote code to gerate three drawings. But our canvas was not a tabula rasa: thick seams split this work into four territories (different colors correspond to each of us) of equal area. Points and vectors at lines of intersection provide a shared but topology-neutral infrastructure. Our goal: The work is simultaneously ten compositions, three compositions, and one composition. Individual and collective; Harmonious and dissonant; Random and regular; Shallow and deep; Determinant and serendipitous.
